Early Victorian Chaise deep buttoned

Antiques of the week

Tuesday, April 21st, 2020 | News

It seems we’ve been collecting antiques for quite some years now and thought it was time to start showcasing some of our latest pieces being launched onto the website in the next few weeks. From fine Italian Cassoons to late Victorian Limed Oak Armchairs, we have a divine collection waiting to be snapped up by fellow antique lovers.

All our antique pieces are stripped to the frame, re-glued, pegged, screwed and corner blocked. We then re-use the original horse hair and mix it with a new hair then using methods over 100 year old, our upholsterers hand tease, roll and stitch using a coarser hair, coconut hair and wool wadding to create a perfect seat! As we move towards a more sustainable future, looks like our antiques will be able to tick that box!

From 1860 to 1890, we have a fine selection of period frames re-glued, screwed and corner blocked ready for legs to be polished and have their castors swapped. Since 1969 we have collected hundreds of original castors that we always manage to fit to original frames. These frames will take a week each to traditionally upholster, they will be so comfy!

It has been fully restored and built up to calico ready to be upholstered in a fabric of your choice. We have a large collection of fabrics for you to choose from, or alternatively you may wish to send your own fabric to us. Either way, this chaise will look stunning once finished off in a beautiful fabric.
